Residence Permit
and TIE

In Spain, the journey towards residency for non-EU/EEA and Swiss nationals involves navigating through the processes of obtaining a residence permit and the TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero or Foreigner Identity Card).

What are the Spanish Residence Permit and TIE?

The Spanish residence permit is an authorization that allows non-EU/EEA and Swiss citizens to reside in Spain for more than 90 days for various reasons, including work, study, family reunification, or retirement. The TIE, on the other hand, is a physical card that proves the holder’s legal residence status and includes details such as name, nationality, and NIE number (Foreigner’s Identification Number).
